November 1956 Introduction
This completes Volume III of The Settler, which was started in 1952. Begun with fear and trepidation, it has been so well received that it is now a joy to edit it. We look forward to a long life.
Dues notices for 1957 will be sent out early in January. The next issue will be sent only to those who are paid up to date, so better be sure that your dues are paid. We want to keep our present high membership, nearly 1,300.
There will be no regular monthly series of meetings for the season 1956-57. There may be one or two special meeting and a large Century Farm Award meeting is being planned for some time in November. But attendance at these monthly meetings has fallen off so much that it is deemed wise to abandon them for at least a year. If there is sufficient demand, they will be resumed.
Among our exchange publications, one which we always read form cover to cover is “The Picket Post”, the quarterly of the Valley Forge Historical Society. Its articles are always interesting and inspiring.
Note: THE SETTLER is a quarterly publication of Bradford County History.
This publication can be obtained by contacting us at bchs@CQServices.com.
The cost of THE SETTLER is $4.25 (including shipping). THE SETTLER is also
available in the Museum Gift Shop. You can automatically receive THE SETTLER
by mail by simply becoming a MEMBER of the Society.
