January 1953 Introduction

Dear Member:
The response to the issuance of The Settler has been most gratifying. Letters have been received from members all over the country expressing their pleasure at our new venture. Since the mailing of the first number on July 24th, we have received 382 new members, which brings our total membership to 956 as of January 20.
The challenge of our President to secure new members has been well met. Many have sent in more than one, one member has secured ten new ones. While our progress has been most marked, we still have not reached our goal of 1,200 members, which we set over a year ago. If one half of our members would secure just one new member – we would have nearly fifteen hundred members, which is what we would like to have here in Bradford County.
It can be done if each of you acquired a sense of pride in your Society and what it has accomplished. We feel that you can well be proud of it, for it is now the largest county historical society in the state. Let us make it ever bigger. There is an application blank on the back – cut it out, get your member, and send it in with the Dollar. Will you do it?
Note: THE SETTLER is a quarterly publication of Bradford County History.
This publication can be obtained by contacting us at bchs@CQServices.com.
The cost of THE SETTLER is $4.25 (including shipping). THE SETTLER is also
available in the Museum Gift Shop. You can automatically receive THE SETTLER
by mail by simply becoming a MEMBER of the Society.
