Dear Member:
The primary work of a historical society is to preserve the records of the past for the use of the present and future posterity. To pass down to future generations the proud heritage which we now possess. All of this your society is endeavoring to do through its fine museum and the publication of The Settler. That our work is appreciated is shown by our nearly 1,300 members, making it the largest county historical society in the state.
And now there is a challenge facing us. It is to complete a great historic shrine at French Azilum. Through it we can pass down to our children and grandchildren the visual story of these refugees of a century and a half ago, who for a short time found asylum in our midst. This restoration will add much to our economic life and increase greatly our claim to be “the scenic heart of Pennsylvania.”
I am asking for your most hearty co-operation in this work of the restoration of French Azilum, which you can show best by your becoming a “Charter Member” in this great membership drive, March 1-15.
Note: THE SETTLER is a quarterly publication of Bradford County History.
This publication can be obtained by contacting us at bchs@CQServices.com.
The cost of THE SETTLER is $4.25 (including shipping). THE SETTLER is also
