The Bradford County Historical Society has the microfilm collection of the Physician Register from 1881 to 1939. The State of Pennsylvania passed legislation to provide for the registration of all practitioners of medicine and surgery, June 8, 1881. Each physician had to appear and make an affidavit at the Prothonotary Court. The two-volume collection is indexed. Each record contains:

• Name
• Place of Nativity
• Place of Residence
• Medical Degree(s)
• Institution(s) and Date(s)
• Other Degrees
• Place or Places of Continuous Practice
