The earliest newspaper coverage in Bradford County predates the creation of the County. A newspaper was published as early as 1797 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and at that time present Bradford County was part of Luzerne County. These early Luzerne County newspapers cover early residents and events in Bradford County mostly along the Susquehanna River where settlement began. The newspapers can be accessed online due to the courtesy of the Wyoming Historical Society at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawchs/abstracts.html. Below are the newspapers that are part of the collection of the Bradford County Historical Society. Most are microfilmed or computer digitized and many have had deaths, marriages, births, and other information abstracted, which are in the card file section of the Research Center.
